Isomag is an insulating material, which changed the market of the insulating materials world-wide thoroughly. The composition of the material on basis magnesite silicate secures the insulating properties similarly as with Calcium-Silicate however has Isomag
incomparable stability and extent firmness to the temperature 10500C.
Previous generation insulating materials, generally of a soft nature and theoretical very low thermal conductivity, fail to sustain their insulating properties and stability (compress) within a steel process vessel subject to high process stresses and cannot meet the high demands of these new generation metal processing systems.
Isomag is used on a continuous basis by Pyrotek Clients throughout the World in various high tonnage Metallurgical Vessels including:
- Iron and steel making ladles
- Steel making tundishes
- BOS Converters
- RH Degasser
- EAF Sidewalls (below WC panels at Slag Line/ Metal Bath Line) and EBT areas.
- BF Runners
It should be appreciated that Isomag with its high physical properties, particularly in compression, is designed for incorporation as insulation in ladle bottoms or other steel making vessels as other softer insulation materials fret and crumble, compress, give instability and severely risk metal penetration. The life of Isomag is only limited by the retention capabilities of the other component parts of the lining and the stripping operation methods involved.
Additional advantages of the use of Isomag:
- Energy-saves during preheating of the casting ladles as well as during production.
- Better utilization of the droppings in the converter (higher
cast iron temperature in the converter)
- Longer service life of the tundish refractory brick lining (more symmetrical temperature and fuse of the refractory brick lining)
Many of our customers retain the safety lining and insulation in excess of one year due to Isomag’s stability influence and durability in withstanding friction erosion with the steel shell and we are willing to work with the client to this objective.
